Standing Committee – Clerical Member

Fr. Tom HightowerThe Very Rev. Dr. Thomas Hightower is rector of St. Peter & St. Paul Church in Arlington and Dean of the Eastern Deanery. He is the convener of the Commission on Ministry for the Priesthood and a past president of the Standing Committee. He served four terms as deputy to General Convention and currently sits on the ACNA Provincial Council.


Fr. Scott Wooten(incumbent) The Very Rev. Scott Wooten is rector of Good Shepherd, Wichita Falls, and Dean of the Northern Deanery. His diocesan experience includes service on the Standing Committee, Finance Committee, and the Commission on Ministry. He is a former vice president of the Northwest Texas Council of the Boy Scouts of America. At the provincial level, he has contributed to the development of a Christian formation program.

Standing Committee – Lay Member

Dr. Ambrose AdamsDr. Ambrose Adams II is a member of St. Simon’s, Fort Worth, where he has served as Junior and Senior Warden, lay reader, choir member, building committee chairman and president of the Men’s Club. He has served on the boards of the Jubilee Theatre and Area Agency on Aging and is a former chairman of the Fort Worth Economic Development Corp, and Tarrant County Salvation Army.

Larry Votto(incumbent) Larry Votto is a member of St. Laurence, Southlake, and has enjoyed short-term teaching missions to Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya, Peru, and Bolivia. In the parish, he has served as a lay reader, LEM, catechist, convention delegate, and vestry member. At the diocesan level he has been a lay member of the Standing Committee since 2010 and serves on the Commission on Ministry for the Diaconate.

Ecclesiastical Trial Court – Clerical Member

Fr. HamptonThe Rev. Joel Hampton is rector of Holy Apostles, Fort Worth. He came to the diocese in 2008 after serving as a military chaplain. Fr. Hampton is a member of the Commission on Ministry for the Priesthood and the Risk Management Committee, and he has served on the clergy staff at Camp Crucis for several summers. While he was rector of St. Andrew’s Church in Breckenridge, he served as a volunteer chaplain at Stephens Memorial Hospital.

The Rev. Andrew Powell is rector of St. Andrew’s, Grand Prairie and serves on the Commission on Ministry for the Priesthood. He is a member of the Society of the Holy Cross. He came to the diocese from Midland, Texas, where he was vice president of the Ministerial Alliance. Currently Fr. Powell is a member of the Advisory Board for Parkland Hospital’s Grand Prairie Health Center. In 2011 he participated in a SOMA mission trip to Uganda.
