Book of Remembrance

For those seeking a simple memorial for friends and loved ones, the Bishop Davies Book of Remembrance, named for the founding Bishop of the Diocese of Fort Worth, is maintained by the diocese and is on display for viewing at the Diocesan Center for Ministry in Fort Worth.

The Book of Remembrance is a large, leather-bound and hand-lettered volume. Each congregation is represented by a page with a hand-painted shield symbolic of the church's patron saint or saints. Following this are pages for the names of deceased church members. (There is a separate section in the back of the Book of Remembrance for the names of Christians of other denominations and for Episcopalians who were not members of this diocese.)

Any church, guild, or individual may have a name inscribed in Book of Remembrance. All inscriptions are done by a professional calligrapher. For each name added, an offering of $15 or more is requested. These contributions become a living memorial, as accumulated funds are used for the education of our seminarians.

To have a name added to the Book of Remembrance, call the diocesan office at 817-244-2885. Additions are published annually in the Forward in Mission.
